Road Construction Updates

2019 City of Greenfield Construction Projects

  • W. Edgerton Avenue Reconstruction (W. Loomis Road to S. 27th Street)

The road reconstruction of W. Edgerton Avenue, from W. Loomis Road to S. 27th Street is complete. The grass landscaping is weak and weeds are present. The landscaping will be evaluated and addressed in 2019.

  • S. 52nd Street & W. Midland Drive Neighborhood Reconstruction

The neighborhood roads have been reconstructed and work is complete for 2018. The contractor will return in May 2019 to complete complete the top layer of asphalt and storm inlet adjustments. The grass landscaping is weak and weeds are present. The landscaping will be evaluated and addressed in 2019.

W. Morgan Avenue from W. Forest Home Avenue to S. 43rd Street will be reconstructed to include curb and gutter, sidewalks, new storm sewer and new street lights. The road will have one travel lane and one bike lane in each direction. On-street parking lanes will be provided in certain locations. Throughout construction W. Morgan Avenue will be closed to through traffic but local access to driveways will be maintained.

S. 43rd Street from W. Ramsey Avenue to W. Grange Avenue will be resurfaced to have one travel lane and a 5’ paved shoulder in each direction. There will be storm water drainage improvements and new street lights. No sidewalks or curb and gutter will be added. Throughout construction S. 43rd Street will be closed to through traffic but local access to driveways will be maintained.

S. 116th Street from W. Layton Avenue to W. Cold Spring Road will be rehabilitated with a new layer of asphalt. Other minor work such as spot curb and gutter replacement and sewer structure repairs will be completed as part of this project. The road will be closed to through traffic but local access to driveways will be maintained.

Sidewalk will be added on the east side of S. Honey Creek Drive and the north side of W. Grange Avenue in the vicinity of Elm Dale Elementary School. No further work to the roadway will be performed. Construction will occur in Summer 2019 when school is not in session. Streets within the project area will remain open during construction but on-street parking will be restricted in the construction zone.

  • S. 84th Street and W. Cold Spring Road Intersection Traffic Signal: Summer 2019

A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of S. 84th Street and W. Cold Spring Road. Pedestrian accommodations will also be improved at the intersection. The intersection will remain open during construction but some travel lanes may be closed at times.

2019 WisDOT, County & Other Construction Projects

  • S. 92nd Street (W. Forest Home Avenue to W. Howard Avenue): Spring - Fall 2019

Description: The Milwaukee County Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating County Trunk Highway N (S. 92nd Street) from W. Forest Home Avenue to W. Howard Avenue. The new road will have one travel lane and a paved shoulder in each direction. A traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of S. 92nd Street and W. Cold Spring Road.   • W. Loomis Road Resurfacing (S. 51st Street to W. Fardale Avenue): Spring – Fall 2019

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is resurfacing State Trunk Highway 36 from approximately S. 51st Street to W. Fardale Avenue. A new layer of asphalt will be constructed as well as new handicap accessible ramps at intersection corners. New traffic signals will be installed at numerous intersections within the project area. There will be multiple stages of construction with lane closures and traffic shifts. Stages will include closing Interstate Highway (IH) 41/43/894 ramps at W. Loomis Road.   • S. 92nd Street and W. Forest Home Avenue Intersection Improvements: Summer – Fall 2019

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be improving the intersection of County Trunk Highway N (S. 92nd Street) and State Trunk Highway 24 (W. Forest Home Avenue). A new traffic signal will be installed and pedestrian access improved for the Oak Leaf Trail crossing at W. Forest Home Avenue.   • S. 76th Street and W. Forest Home Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation: Summer 2019

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the S. 76th Street and W. Forest Home Avenue bridges over Interstate Highway (IH) 41/43/894. The intersection of S. 76th Street and the IH 41/43/894 west-bound off ramp will be improved with a new traffic signal and pedestrian accommodations. Construction will have multiple stages with lane closures and traffic shifts. Some work will occur at night and on weekends. Stages will include closing IH 41/43/894 ramps at W.   • W. Beloit Road Bridge Rehabilitation: Summer 2019

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the County Trunk Highway T (W. Beloit Road) bridge over Interstate Highway (IH) 41/894. The traffic signals will be replaced at the IH 41/894 on and off ramps. Construction will have multiple stages with lane closures and traffic shifts. Some work will occur at night and on weekends.
